Our News April 7, 2016

A butcher in Russia was taking a break from his work when he picked up a torn page from a book.  He read it and noticed a picture that attracted him.  After inquiring from coworkers, he was told that some people had given a book (The Science of Self Realization) to another coworker who could not read English.  That person tore the pages written in English from the book, and threw them on the ground. Our butcher, covered in blood, found out that the people who distributed the book were down the street singing a song, so he sought them out.  He spoke with them for six hours, then quit his job that day when they informed him of the cost of killing animals.  He went home to share his new insights with his wife and a couple of friends.  They became devotees and made a mission of protecting cows.
Imagine how fortunate we are to be part of a mission that changes lives so dramatically.

Nandisvara Prabhu is preparing to share real life skills with 10- 12 young men at Gita Nagari.  He will present "appreciating nature" activities while respecting the resources Krishna has given for us to utilize in His service.  Sustainable farming, ox powered wood processing, building a bush hut, learning to tie useful knots, make a raft, etc. will be taught.  What a great opportunity to get away from IPads, IPhones, the internet, and city life to experience simple living, high thinking.  Contact us as soon as possible to book your sons to soak up this amazing weekend.  This email address is being protected from spambots. April 16Mother Padmamalini and Devaprastha Prabu will bring 15- 20 students from their Bhakti club for a service day at Gita Nagari.  They will assist us in completing the Temple service room, prepare the children's play area for retreat season, and replant the flower beds around the Temple.  We are really looking forward to their association.  We will need your help in cooking and hosting them.  Let us know if you can help us.
Sunday, April 24th, the Lead In Action team from Penn State University will bring 48 students to participate in a day of service at Gita Nagari.  They always bring a great service attitude and lots of energy.  Again, we will need the community to help with hosting them and engaging them in vital projects to prepare for the upcoming retreat season.
Kesi-mardana dasa - "Kesi-mardana dasa joined the Krishna consciousness movement in the fall of 2013 in Las Vegas, NV. At that time he was studying psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and was exploring alternative lifestyles and spiritual practices, especially those coming from the East. On the recommendation of a philosophy professor he attended a program held by the UNLV Bhakti Yoga Club and was introduced to mantra meditation, Bhagavad-gita As It Is, and a karma free diet. About six weeks later, after attending weekly programs at the local outreach center, he was invited to move into the Las Vegas ashram and practice the Bhakti lifestyle while completing his degree. He soon became involved in assisting with the university club's management and later took on the position of acting president to help facilitate programs and special events with speakers such as Hrdayananda Goswami, Drutakarma Prabhu, and his spiritual master Devamrita Swami.
In fall of 2015 he graduated from UNLV with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and immediately after spent 4 months in Wellington, New Zealand where he received training and service experience atDevamrita Swami's urban outreach project the Bhakti Lounge. Excited to deepen his service in Srila Prabhupada's mission, he is enthusiastically committed to his new home at Gita Nagari Dhama where he will be contributing to the project's administrative work and future development - hopefully with a bit of cooking mixed in!"
Kumari Gopi devi dasi - Kumari Gopi devi dasi has dazzled us with her incredible artistic talents and wonderful attitude.  She was a resident of New Dwarka Dham in Los Angeles for nine years.  She was actively involved in their outreach program as a book distributor,   Krishna Lounge leader, and a preacher to new members of the community.  We are most grateful for her association and inspiration.
Come see how she has transformed our "community wall" and Gita's Gifts.  She is helping Mother Parijata with the weekly "farm fresh" food distribution, gives Srimad Bhagavatam class weekly, and is helping Mother Jhulan yatra with so many projects.  Today, she was in the milking barn to help Cindyserve the milking mommies.
Welcome to Gita Nagari Prabhus!

Have a wonderful Krishna Conscious Week!!!
