|LORD JAGANNATHA IMPROVES
As you may know, our dear Lord Jagannatha, Lord Baladeva, and Lady Subhadra have been in seclusion for the last ten days. After the Snana Yatra festival, Their Lordships took ill and have been lovingly nursed back to health by Their dedicated servants, Kishori Mani and Kumari Gopi Prabhus. They have begun eating whole foods and are showing signs of full recovery. Please send your prayers and good wishes for their continued improvement. Each night at 7:15pm the devotees are singing toThe Lords outside their window. We cordially invite you to join in expressing our love in separation for them.
RATHA YATRA NEARS
This Saturday July 23rd we will celebrate one of our most joyous festivals when Lord Jagannathaboards His Rath Cart with His brother and sister as we pull Them back to Vrindavan! Just as the Gopis and Gopas bring Krishna, Balaram, and Lady Subhadra back from Kurushetra, we will take our Lordsto the top of Goverdan Hill to let them view the cows and playgrounds of their youth. We need your help and association to accomplish this great task of returning them Home.
We will be parking everyone's cars across from Goverdan Hill in one of the cow pastures. Please support our cow protection service by donating at least $2 to restore the pasture after the festival. We will need to disc and reseed the pasture after you return home, so we thank you in advance for your support. As you may know, the heat and drought have made grazing very difficult, and our Gopas work tirelessly to give all our cows fresh grass to enjoy. Special thanks to Prahlad, Nandi, Keshi and Dhruva Prabhus for their amazing service to the cows. Gita Nagari is committed to the protection and service of the cows!
- 11:00 am: Prepare the cart for transport
- 12:00 pm: Pull the cart from the Temple to Goverdan Hill
- 2:00 pm: Return the Lords to the festival site at the back of the Yoga studio
- 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Entertainment, feasting, shopping, and catching up with old friends
The great sage Vasistha said, "The cow is the past and the future. She nourishes the health of all living entities and she is the root of prosperity. The piety that one achieves by feeding a cow is never destroyed."
(Please prepare for the heat. The weather report calls for temps in the mid 90's)
