Down on the Farm

Cow update -  Damodara Rati dasi, one of our retired cows, is still at the vet hospital.  She is awaiting knee surgery to repair damaged cartilage.  However, a persistent fever has stalled her treatment. Please pray for her as she attempts to recover her health.  If anyone is inclined to donate for her Doctor bills, please email us via the website
Prema Vilas and Lalita Prabhus -  hosted the 2nd annual gathering of the Bhaktivedanta Medical Association at Gita Nagari last weekend. 50 Doctors of all persuasions and their families came together to recharge their batteries and inspire each other to live a Krishna Conscious life while working very hard in the world to serve others. We were thrilled by their enthusiasm to chant the Holy Names late into the night by campfire. The atmosphere was charged by their sincere devotion to Krishna!  Krishna Kumara planned two outings with the children to keep them engaged in devotee association. Mother Yasoda, Mother Mayapur Lila, Sachi Priya, Priya Manjari, and several others helped us serve the guests very nicely.  We can't wait 'til next year.
Bhakta Ian -  leaves for Jamaica on Saturday.  He is part of our family, and we will miss him sorely. His subtle sense of humor and steady demeanor have kept us balanced for the last three months.  He retired from a long teaching career, and joins us most summers to help us complete construction projects and care for our guests.  He shared a very wise Jamaican proverb to remember him by: "Shortcuts lead to blood".
Prahlad Prabhu -  is completing his service to the cows this Friday. As we have shared before, he has been instrumental in grazing rotation, milking, and overall care for our three herds.  Recently, when asked how he was doing, he shared that his heart was heavy. The new mother cows were holding back from giving milk in the milking barn to save their milk for their babies. He and Yasodev Prabhu were deeply touched by the motherly affection being expressed by the mommies. We will be very sad to seePrahlad, Gauri, Locana, and Syama leave Gita Nagari to return to South Africa. Their many contributions to our daily life will be dearly missed. Thank you Prabhus for all your loving gifts to Sri SriRadha Damodara.
Mother Ortrun - will be handing over the newsletter duties to Kesi Mardan Prabhu after this week. She has been an amazing supporter of Gita Nagari for many years. She has spearheaded the "Adopt a Cow" program, done our bookkeeping, donated countless items to assist our progress, supplied the ghee for our customers, and in general, kept us motivated to improve our service to Sri Sri Radha Damodar. We will be hard pressed to carry on without her loving guidance and  support! Thank you Mother Ortrun for all your kindness and friendship.
