Outreach breakthrough! Mother Jhulan yatra will be leading 11 students from the County Administrator's office in a yoga class at their workplace every Wednesday starting July 1st . One of her regular students has been facilitating this project for several months. Dhruva and Parijata Prabhushave cultivated this student for years. Many thanks to Sri Sri Radha Damodar for making this opportunity to serve the larger community!
Srila Bhakti Tirtha festival: As most of you know, over 200 devotees from Africa, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and South America joined the American devotees of His Holiness Bhakti Tirtha Maharajain celebrating His ongoing preaching mission. Maharaja gave his life to spreading the teachings He learned from Srila Prabhupada. Sruta Kirti Prabhu, His Holiness Devamrita Maharaja, His Holiness Radhanatha Maharaja, His Holiness Chandramali Maharaja, His Holiness Bhakti Vikasa Maharaja, His Holiness Bhakti Dhira Damodara Maharaja, HG Rukmini Dasi, and many very senior disciples of Maharaja joined the devotees to inspire all to greater efforts in pushing forward the Iskcon movement. Thank you everyone who brought the house down with amazing Kirtan, heartfelt sharing, and loving exchanges with all who came to Gita Nagari.
Posture and Pain: Snana yatra das is working with Ekavira Pr to help all devotees to greater health. Srila Prabhupada forcefully reminds us during Japa time to "sit properly"! We will explore what that actually means, and give practical tips to put good posture into everyday practice. One of the most important keys to good posture is learning about the xyphoid process. This is a small bone at the end of the sternum, and it's orientation can make achieving correct posture easy. Just make sure the xyphoid posture is forward and skyward and the rest of the body will automatically assume the right position. Just observe the devotees sitting on the temple floor and see how necessary better posture is to our community. Two props can also help: the "nada chair" will give just the right support to sitting nicely, and 4 tennis balls in a sock can stretch the back muscles to allow better posture. We will elaborate next week. Mother Jhulan adds that a little practice of "downward facing dog" asana will build strength in the right muscles to maintain good seated posture.
Oxen training: Nandishwar and Krishna Kumar Prabhus are working to assist the young oxen in readying themselves to serve the farm with plowing, hauling logs, and taking our guests for rides in a cart. Please drop by to hear the wonderful stories of Bhima, Bhanu, Hari, and their brothers as they grow in service.
Cow health: One of the most vital tasks the cowherds have is to maintain good hoof health in our herd. With all the rain recently, the muddy paddocks can lead to hoof rot and infection. The vet came by today to help us take optimal care of our beautiful cows and bulls. Mother Parijata, Druva, and Nandiswar Prabhus worked until 2:30 am Monday night to clean and file the herd's hooves. Krishna is teaching us to know and care for our cows better and better.
Upcoming events: The Bhakti House in Toronto will be visiting Gita Nagari mid and late July to study Bhakti Yoga with His Holiness Devamrita Swami. HG Mangala Arati and her team are doing a great job of cultivating new devotees in Krishna Conciousness. We are excited to host them again!
Have a great week! Remember to breath and smile!
