Brrrr: It is an icy 12 degrees Fahrenheit today and I have spent much of this week prepping the site (excavating, laying stones, uncovering the pipes, etc) for our new boiler generously sponsored by all of you. We hope to have it installed by next week.
Cows: The cows are reasonably well despite this “arctic blast”. None of us enjoy this weather, yet we remain grateful for the moment to moment opportunities in devotional service.
Dining Hall: I want to express my sincere gratitude to all our community members for organizing the dining hall. In a mood of teamship and support, everyone naturally “pitched in” and we were able to complete this service in little time with great result and all the while, having fun too! Thank you so much!
Ok - am heading back into the ice :). Will keep you posted as we develop with the boiler installation. IN the mean time, please stay warm and drive safely out there.

Christmas Gathering: The Festive Season is a great time to reconnect. We had a sweet time at Mother Yasodamayi’s home, wonderfully hosted by her very capable children Hladinni, Mukunda and KalaKanthi, for our annual Christmas Gathering at Chez Jagannath. Many Guests stopped by at the Temple too, many old time friends and others, our dear cow and dairy supporters.
New Wood Boiler Thanks: It is with a full, grateful heart that I wish to express my most sincere gratitude to every friend who supported us in achieving our goal to reinstall a new wood boiler for our central heating. You may not realize what this means for us - more than reinstating heat, your kindness and generosity in our time of need has made us feel very supported and loved, knowing that there are all of you, “folks out there” understanding our shared goals here at Gita Nagari and are willing to support us both with our on-farm services and in serving all of you. Thank you, from our hearts, to yours.

Music of the Heart Festival: Speaking of Hearts, our annual and 14th Music of the Heart Festival inaugurated by HH Bhakti Tirtha Swami Maharaj, was very sweet, and we were excited with visiting guests like Mother Champak and Mother Pattarajini, Dustin, Hannah and Weston, Perry, the Toronto Bhakti Lounge Team, Anand and Rosalia, and many others. Thank you to Mother Yasodamayi and her family for a wonderful festival that brings our community together.

Busy - Busy: Although it is winter and we always envision a lighter service schedule and slower pace, there is so much activity here at the farm. We feel very enlivened to serve together on the altar, in the barn, in the kitchen, in outreach services, and outdoors.
Our Gift Shop is officially up and running - a great team effort led by Mother Krsna Presthaya - please do stop by for Holiday Specials. We find that it serves as a great outreach vehicle - please invite your friends to browse. We have hot apple cider and ginger cookies on hand, and free gifts with all your purchases.
There is still time to shop!
Get in touch with M. Krishna Presthaya or call 717-527-4101 for more information.
Cow Report: The cows are doing well this winter. Our farm friends needed extra care: Madri our goat developed an eye infection so she is being treated daily and recovering, our baby peacock with a broken leg has healed nicely thanks to Snana Yatra Prabhu, Mother Jhulan Yatra, Yamuna and Omar’s care. Kaisori, our very dear retired cow has one bent horn and that cracked, so we had to have that removed - she is recovering very well.
Surprise! I did not mention this in the last edition - we were at Hemagaura Prabhus surprise 80th Birthday party - we cooked the feast and everyone loved it - it was also a great team effort. We especially enjoyed doing kirtan at their home and connecting with their friends and family. It is very inspiring to learn that so many people are interested in sustainability and spirituality. More outreach opportunities presented themselves when we attended the children’s Christmas Plays/Presentations - we had good fun and good interaction with the school staff and other parents.
Bhakti Center: The highlight of my week was a brief yet extremely fulfilling visit to The Bhakti Center in New York. Both the presence and presentation of bhakti by HH Radhanath Swami uplifted us greatly. He also gave the gayatri mantra to Mother Krsna Presthaya - please bless her to continue to serve the devotees, her spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada and Sri Sri Radha Damodar with increased surrender and love. We are very grateful for Radhanath Maharaj’s love and mercy. It was also a wonderful reunion for me - reconnecting with so many wonderful friends and well-wishers at The Bhakti Center.
Heat (or lack thereof): Another unexpected part of our visit was Yasoda-dulal Prabhu expressing deep concern about our heating situation and then putting that concern into action by fundraising for the replacement of our central heating boiler. By his efforts and the generosity of many amazing devotees, $9500 has been raised and that leaves $2500 more to raise to reach the goal of reinstating our heat.
The residents of Gita Nagari and I are deeply moved by the kindness and compassion of the devotees and would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to every one of you. May you all be blessed eternally by Sri Sri Radha Damodar. Thank you.
Boiler Replacement Fund
Dear Friends and Well-wishers.
The cost of the boiler including installation is $12000. There are several precautionary measures we plan to take this time around so as to prevent such a re-occurence.
